North Ceredigion residents asked for views on two new forest management plans
Residents in Ceredigion are being asked to give their views on two separate forest plans managed by Natural Resources Wales (NRW).
NRW - who manage the Welsh Government Woodland Estate across Wales - is developing a plan to manage forests close to the north Ceredigion coast, and a separate plan to manage forests in the Nant yr Arian area.
The purpose of the consultations is to allow NRW to include the views of the public into the future management of the forests for the next 10 years and beyond.
Grace Sanderson, NRW’s Senior Land Management Officer in North Ceredigion said:
Our forests offer so many benefits to the natural world and to our communities. They help us in the fight against climate and nature emergencies, provide good quality timber for us to use, and wonderful places for us all to spend time in and enjoy.
We want to make sure residents in Ceredigion have the opportunity to feed back their views on the plans for forests in their local areas and help make sure the sites we provide deliver the benefits they seek.
A summary of the main objectives for the forest and all the draft maps are available to view on the NRW website.
Residents can search for ‘Natural Resources Wales Forest Resource Plans’ on any internet search engine and follow the links to the relevant plan.
Alternatively, residents can call 0300 065 3000 and ask to speak with one of the Senior Land Management Officers responsible for the consultations. From there they will be able to send out hard copies of the documents on request.
Residents who want to send feedback by post can send it to one of two addresses.
If responding to the consultation on the forests close to the coast in North Ceredigion, residents should return it to North Ceredigion Forest Resource Plan, Natural Resources Wales, Government Buildings, Arran Road, Dolgellau, LL40 1LW.
If responding to the consultation on the forests close to Nant yr Arian, residents should return feedback to NRW, Powells Lane, Welshpool, Powys. SY21 7JY.
All feedback and questions will need to be returned by 10 July at the latest.
