Survey and sampling work - If you are coming into the Dee Estuary, please check all Notices to Mariners

Mariners are advised that numerous small buoys are established from time to time within the estuary.

These include moorings and racing marks established by yacht clubs as well as buoys laid by local fishermen and other individuals.

The main concentrations lay along the Wirral shoreline from West Kirby upstream towards Heswall (Dawpool Bank) and on the Welsh side at the entrances to the gutters at Greenfield and Bagillt.

It is recommended that these areas are avoided by those without local knowledge, particularly during the hours of darkness when the buoys may not be seen, and around high water when they may become wholly or partially submerged. It is strongly recommended a visual survey be made of an area prior to navigating in the vicinity.
