Wales Nature Week celebrates native wildlife and action for nature – 5 to 13 July

People throughout Wales are invited to join events that connect them with nature and inspire action for nature recovery.
Wales Nature Week, 5 to 13 July, is a celebration of wildlife and habitats with a focus on enjoying, valuing and helping nature in Wales. It also celebrates the people who carry out incredible work for nature.
This year’s events include nature festivals for all ages, guided walks and wildlife workshops hosted by Local Nature Partnerships and other nature-friendly organisations. Many of the events are free to attend and are a great opportunity to celebrate nature and be part of a community.
People can also join in with the week at home, school or work by taking time to notice nature in their local area and share their experience on social media using #WalesNatureWeek.
Sean McHugh, Wales Biodiversity Partnership Support Team, Natural Resources Wales said:
“Wales Nature Week is a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to get involved and make a difference for nature. As we’re in a nature and climate emergency, caring about nature has never been more important. Protecting and enhancing biodiversity will support the ecosystems we all rely on every day for our food, our health and our economy.
“Nature is for everyone, so please celebrate Wales Nature Week any way you can, whether that’s by attending an event, raising awareness with friends and family or simply enjoying a summer stroll. Don’t forget to share your photos with us using #WalesNatureWeek.
“We hope the week will encourage people to take simple steps to help nature, such as practicing wildlife-friendly gardening. Other easy steps include connecting with Local Nature Partnerships, supporting conservation charities, or volunteering with local nature projects.”
Evelyn Gruchala, Nature Recovery Volunteer Coordinator, Swansea Council and Gower National Landscape said:
“Wales Nature Week offers an inspiring opportunity for communities across Swansea and Gower to connect with nature and take meaningful steps to protect and enhance it. As we face the ongoing nature and climate emergencies, there has never been a more important time to support local wildlife and safeguard the green and blue spaces that underpin ecosystem resilience and our future well-being.
“To mark the occasion, Swansea is hosting events designed to engage people of all ages and interests. Highlights include community swift survey events in celebration of Swift Awareness Week, a traditional dry stone-walling workshop, a guided invertebrate walk at an ecologically important colliery spoil site and an exploration of the hidden wonders along our coastal strandlines.
“Whether you take part in an organised event, carry out a nature-friendly action at home, or simply take time to enjoy your local greenspace, your contribution makes a difference.”
Wales Nature Week is an annual celebration coordinated by the Wales Biodiversity Partnership and made possible by participation from Local Nature Partnerships, environmental organisations, communities, schools, businesses, and individuals. The week brings together thousands of people every year to highlight the importance of biodiversity and the role everyone can play in nature recovery.
